Earth Blessings Everyone!!
Grass Tea fertilizer is my all time favorite to use for a few reasons. One, it's free! All you need are grass clippings and water. Two, it's easy! Again, grass clippings and water! And three, it's a way to clean up the clippings from the yard after a good mow.
My yard honestly doesn't get mowed as often as my neighbor's might like, but I like keeping my patches of herbs around my lawn and I also like having nice rich clippings when it does get mowed.
Everyone knows this sight, right? The long line piles of clippings after not mowing for 3 weeks? Well this is exactly what your going to need for this recipe. (and water!)
Simply fill a 5 gallon bucket (or 3, or as many buckets as you want) with clippings and add water until you've completely submerged the clippings. They might float, but use your best judgement, there is no wrong way to do this.
And that's it!!
Let this sit in the sun for 2-4 days and then strain out the grass. I use an old pasta strainer. You'll have a nice brown, earthy tea.
If you want to, you could add the grass to and old onion bag, or something similar with netting as a 'tea bag' and then just pull it out when the tea has steeped.
I use this in my garden with my veggies, but you could use it to fertilize anything that needs it.
